A: In the following cases:
1. When engine damage or a malfunction occurs, which may endanger the safe operation of the ship.
2. When any malfunction occurs which, it is believed, may cause damage or break down of propulsion machinery, auxiliary machinery or monitoring and governing systems.
3. In any emergency if in any doubt as to what decision on measure to take.
